Hello everyone, how are you doing? … ha, ha I have an inbox of emails, each asking me precisely the same question. Let me respond on behalf of us all by saying that I am not having an easy time right now but thank you for asking. There I said it! The world outside of music continues to be a lot, be kind to yourselves friends. Let’s just talk about music instead, shall we? I cannot lie January and February kept me on my toes with new music releases. A lot of hot tunes excited me. Time to update our Spotify playlist “This Beat Is Poptronik” and recap.

MARCH 2022 features…

Robyn has pulled off an incredible reimagining/cover of Neneh Cherry’s seminal classic “Buffalo Stance.” Neneh features alongside Mapei, with production by Dev Hynes. Amazing.

Nic Billington consistently delivers electronic-pop excellence. Incredibly, with the new release “Homesick” he pushes the bar higher still. (If you came along, Nic gave us a sneak peek of this song at EQ Music Live in October).

In January, Darren Hayes surprised everyone with his first solo release in 10 years, “Let’s Try Being In Love“. This is a glorious track with a powerful video in tow. Darren Hayes makes huge strides for queer representation. We love to see it!

Don’t miss these gems from The Knocks with Dragonette, Myylo, Betty Boo, Josef Salvat, Camden Cox and Osvaldo Supino.

Put these on your radar:

If there are any doubters in the house, the ascent of DYLAN is happening before our eyes. I definitely see her following a similar path to that of Baby Queen. It is of no consequence, being that King Ed both writes and produces Baby Queen, also. Track of the moment is “No Romeo

A shiny new mega pop star. Ocean Tisdall gives us dreamy, vocal chops, teamed with incredible songwriting on “White Lies“. Whenever someone compares a new artist to Troye Sivan or Lauv, I usually roll my eyes. This time, I am not making such a gesture. Ocean Tisdall does indeed remind me a bit of both of these artists. Get on board now…

At the first glimpse of this duo, I thought STAY GLDN were onto something special. “Dead Ends, Fake Friends,” proves my thinking as correct. The subtle, soft, pop style is definitely obsession-worthy. This duo reminds me of bands like St. Lucia, Aquilo, and Gypsy & The Cat as examples that produce gorgeous soundscapes. Vocal comparison, Bright Light Bright Light.

In all honesty, Teddy at Night left quite an impression on me. It is not every day I hear music as enthralling as his electrifying blend of power pop. Vibrant electro-rock is how I describe his sound. Give “Stole Your Lover” a listen.

We got an enticing first glimpse at the Milan-raised/LA-based artist Nieri, with the dance-pop meets club-worthy anthem “Beautiful Music“. An endorphin raising introduction – sexy electro-pop vibes.
