It seems a strange thing to say, but a highlight of being in lockdown has been the rad, Club DOMO DJ sets by Robyn. They have created a nice bit of escapism not only for me but also the sizeable audience who have tuned in. I admire her for switching between her artistic multi-skills. Although I had not given any thought that we’d be getting a groovy new tune, let alone a collaboration she’s been involved in, anytime soon. I think it an awesome, choice being linked up with Channel Tres, and SG Lewis, for the rising producers latest cut “Impact.”

Thinking about it could the timing be any better, that this release should happen? What with the recent Dua Lipa track “Hallucinate” (co-written and co-produced by SG Lewis) impacting the official music charts. As you may already know, we are very select here at EQ when it comes to supporting EDM tracks. As we mostly don’t and err towards highlighting the electronic, pop, and indie-pop strands of the genre. Just don’t let it be said that we don’t recognise a track of monster potential when we hear it. With, Lady Gaga recently raising our interest with EDM, dance-pop inspired “Chromatica.” Suffice to say, adding to the reasoning behind, why “Impact” is receiving some EQ love today.

SG Lewis, funk-fuelled electronic production style is emotive and atmospheric. More often, chilled out and entrancing. When linked up with Robyn and silky, smooth soulster singer/rapper Channel Tres. The mood is elevated towards, a sweaty club-style heater. Dripping with, sexily pulsing, bass beats, and embellished with a futuristically gleaming melody. It is a track which will impact you with ease. Once it’s locked into the headspace, it stays there. Throbbing away like the nicest headache you’ll never have. All three artists worked on this track, each providing input, lyrics and their own emotiveness. With Robyn for her part, contributing to the chorus. Summertime without some Robyn in our music diet just doesn’t feel right. Therefore, I am grateful, this collaboration with SG Lewis and Channel Tres has happened. Besides SG Lewis is fast becoming prolific as one of the newest faces of production and EDM. It feels only right, that in line with celebrating electronic music that we’ve made our mission to champion and support here on EQ Music Blog that we observe his rise.
