The sophomore album “Future Nostalgia” from Dua Lipa arrived at a time when many of us were going into lockdown. Which when you think about it, was a whole three months ago already. That’s practically a whole season, ago. It still stands as one of the year’s best long-player releases, but there is still some way to go until end-of-year, yet. Even though Dua has landed us four singles, the album is still dripping with potential single candidates. Being as the UK and European tour dates were hastily rescheduled to January 2021. There is ample time to now allow other tracks from the album to shine under their own esteem. As lockdown eases throughout Europe, it is the Samuel George Lewis and Sophie Frances Cooke penned, disco-club charmer “Hallucinate,” which takes to the spotlight.

Earning a mid-way position on the album tracklist “Hallucinate,” brings with it a good, amount of energy teamed with a dousing of glittery feels. It is very much the dancefloor filler of the release. The one where she turns on her pop diva charm to full power. A classic disco sound, which is bound to endear for many years to come.

We all recognise the difficulties encountered with making music videos since we’ve been required to go into lockdown and adhere to social distancing measures. Tove Lo felt her way around the predicament for her track “sadder badder cooler” by commissioning an animation short. It worked spectacularly well. Is this idea in danger of becoming the new norm for major pop acts to follow, for the time being? Being that for the “Hallucinate” visual, Dua appears as a cute cartoon figure, in a colour-filled world of happiness and bubblegum character created fun. Directed by The Mill’s, Lisha Tan. The animated extravaganza is everything an artist at the height of global superstardom would reach for.
