Did you catch Georgia‘s recent Radio One Big Weekend performance in Dundee? It was amazing! It was not surprising leading on from this, she would drop a new single from her upcoming album “Euphoric” afterwards. Or that she premiered “Give It Up For Love” as Hottest Record In The World on Clara Amfo‘s Future Sounds show this week.
In the first single, “It’s Euphoric” I could not help but notice Georgia uses a dreamy pop style. This is somewhat different from the energetic dance-pop we heard in her sophomore album “Seeking Thrills.“ Explaining this, she mentioned in her interview with Clara Amfo that she sought inspiration from the movie soundtrack of “The Beach.” This subsequently led her to approach the soundtrack producer William Orbit with her track. And guess what? He agreed to come on board and produce it. Whoop, whoop!
Nonetheless, this explains how the tracks “Pure Shores,” vibes are intentional.
In addition to the sound and vibe, she brings to this new project. The title of Georgia’s next long player, “Euphoric,” is all the hint we need about the themes used in her third album. These are about living in the moment and embracing life as it is rather than trying to escape from it.
In the music video for “Give It Up For Love,” the directors Mathy & Fran create a powerful analogy for taking risks. The visual shows Georgia sitting on the edge of a diving board, visibly contemplating taking the plunge. Meanwhile, a diverse group of people around her are similarly all facing the same fears and summoning their courage to take a leap forward. The clip is a beautiful representation of the struggle to break out of our comfort zones and pursue our dreams.
