In support of her recent “Clarity” album release, the track “Icy” gets some deserved visual attention. In the slick footage directed by Alexandre Moors (Miley Cyrus “Mother’s Daughter” and “Slide Away”) Kim is transformed into the ultimate, and coolest rising star on planet pop right. Some might argue Kim Petras has been the coolest, newcomer for the best part of this year but the stunning, “Icy” video is completely next level and fitting for a superstar-in-the-making.
Kim is someone who is always styled to perfection. She serves all the fashionista moves, on the “Icy” clip, where she gives us some glamorous Hollywood starlet looks as well as hot, sensuous and seriously, sexy imagery. It is all that we could want from a future pop queen. Along with the broader, maturer, sound, she’s now well equipped to do some, serious damage to the official pop charts. It is time.
Explaining the video, Kim says…
“I wanted the visual to feel fresh and signify becoming, a stronger version of myself. The video starts with me feeling trapped and watched in a glass box, but as it progresses, I escape and evolve into a bionic version of myself through the pain of heartbreak.”
With this fabulous video, Kim continues to ride high in our consciousness. Like we can’t forget, she has given us not just one album “Clarity” this year, she has also unleashed the completed, spooky, Halloween themed “Turn Off The Light” project. She has spent most 2019 dominating new, emerging pop, playlists and such, and plans to continue towering over the genre already extend into, 2020. When Kim brings her “Clarity” tour back to Europe and the UK (London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow) for a run of dates throughout January and February.
