I’m not even going to apologise for posting up a dance track today. Ordinarily, I steer away from such club dance tracks as much as possible. When we have the added gift of Years & Years, Olly Alexander’s vocals in the mix. I’m easily won over by his soulful, smooth voice. The last time I was vibing on Jax Jones was because of his collaboration “You Don’t Know Me” with Raye. When it comes to the sliding the grooves of latest effort “Play” into my ears, this very bleak and rainy winters day here in the UK. I’m up for tapping into it.

The track comes with a visualiser. It is beyond cute. It is a play-doh-mation featuring figurines of Jax and Olly, busting their best moves to the song. It really has been the sunshine and happiness which has lit up my day.

Fun is definitely a key element which went into the making of this track.

“We had a lot of fun writing this song together and it was great to collaborate with someone so down to earth and open to new ideas,”

…says Jax.

Olly remarked about the collaboration…

“Working with Jax was really fun and we just giggled the whole time and danced around. I wrote loads of ideas and then we picked the ones we liked and made the song out of it.”

There’s not likely to be too many pop bangers released from now onwards in the run-up to New Years. Therefore, it is quite uncanny that one of the last big hitters of 2018, features the aptly named Years & Years.
