Well that went fast! It feels like it was only weeks ago that I began blogging tracks in readiness for the release of the fifth Bright Light Bright Light, album “Enjoy Youth.” And here we are now with only a few more days to go before the big drop takes place on May 17th. I feel sure there is no need for me to remind EQ’s extended family… our readers, of the fabulous BLBL songs I have blogged since last May. With that, all said, if you should feel like a little catching-up session will bridge the gap until the album release arrives. Additionally, the final lead-up single to “Enjoy Youth” is now out. “Heartslap” is the second duet unveiled thus far and features guest vocals from GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter Mykal Kilgore. The track is one of Rod’s most catchy alluring, offerings that he is so good at producing. The track has that special something, that it feels destined to become a fan favourite. I guess “Heartslap” is just a joyous song, expressing the pure joy of physical chemistry, finding love and mutual connection.
“Heartslap” is absolutely, the right track to release ahead of an album release and a mini tour of UK dates. This also makes complete sense, being that Mykal Kilgore will join Rod at these shows.
Don’t forget EQ Music Blog is hosting the event at The Night & Day Cafe in Manchester on June 3rd. Also joining the line-up is pop singer-songwriter, and soulful powerhouse, Anthony Hughes.
