You may have noticed, we haven’t talked about Sia much recently. (I noticed this as well). Be assured, although I may sometimes make passing remarks to the singer’s many collaborations with David Guetta (as I did when sharing my post about the DAVID44 track “Understood“.) It is always done so, with a good helping of jest. To give her the credit she deserves, co-writing and directing the musical drama movie “Music” was a big undertaking for her. Being that the full movie soundtrack is now released. I thought, let’s give Sia some love. The track “Together” seemed the obvious choice to spotlight.
Besides, I also felt it prudent to celebrate Sia’s Golden Globe nomination even though Borat Subsequent Moviefilm walked away with the Best motion picture – musical or comedy award.
“Together,” co-written and co-produced by Jack Antonoff, is a song brimming with positivity and hope. Vibes which we really need to latch onto right now. As a way of helping us through the struggle of the last few weeks. Before we emerge as lockdown survivors.
Both the song and the video bring a glorious splash of colour. We really can’t argue with Sia’s requests of “I want, love. I want to give it. I want, love. Please deliver it”. These lyrics are resonating with me/us/EQ. Let us never lose sight that the world is a better place by making small acts of kindness. The legacy of lockdown needs to be immortalised as ‘Be kind’.
