Since everyone, is now tuned in to Friday being new music release day you might have missed this cool song from (LA residing) rising Australian star BANOFFEE. It has been out a couple of days although to be fair in regards to time-zones, Australia is ahead of the UK. So if you’re good at music maths, this global equation around the release day not falling on the weekend should now make some sense with you. The BANOFFEE track is called “Count On You,” but it hasn’t been written about number conundrums. Let’s face it, if it had been, it would make for a very, boring song topic. This delicately layered synth-pop track does, however, act as a vehicle for the Australian-born producer-turned-pop star, to contemplate life’s struggles. Where she highlights how we should think about being the supporting shoulder or listening ear or both. “Count On You” is an endearing ode reminding us to look out for one another. The song is co-produced by BANOFFEE, Yves Rothman and SOPHIE. It is the first look at new music in 2020 ahead of the release of her debut album “Look At Us Now Dad,” out on Friday, February 21st via Cascine and Dot Dash.

Listening to “Count On You” has made me realise I’ve been sleeping on BANOFFEE for too long. The blending of shimmering synths, gently pulsating rhythms and mesmeric vocals have got me hooked right into the rising pop stars, latest vibe. An artist to watch out for in 2020, for sure.
