With his music, multi-platinum chart-topping singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist Lauv is known to open up, but lately he has done that even more. Recently, he shared he is learning more about his sexuality and understanding his identity. In a TikTok post, he mentioned, “When ur dating a girl but ur also a lil bit into men“. He has since further elaborated by saying, “I’m gay, but I’m not gay, but I’m gay, but I’m not gay.” Thus confirming his ongoing journey of self-discovery and that he is taking time to process his feelings since he does not have everything figured out yet. Presumably, though, Lauv will discuss these thoughts in the songs he is working on. Hence he felt ready to begin sharing some of the new stuff and started the ball rolling with the track “Love U Like That.”
I genuinely enjoy listening to Lauv’s music, and this song is no exception. It has that typical melodic sound that he is known for. But what I love about Lauv’s music is how he expresses himself through his lyrics. In “Love U Like That,” he talks about the joys of being in love. However, I noticed that he does not mention gender once for the sole purpose of enjoying intimate moments with someone. It’s a beautiful sentiment.
The release of “Love U Like That” comes in the wake of an announcement about European, UK, and Australia dates of Lauv’s “The Between album tour” which takes place in October this year. (See HERE for information).
The tour news is undoubtedly exciting, in all probability Lauv will most likeliest try out some new songs. Apparently this is just the beginning of something big and iconic, so a new album may be on the way. Regardless of whatever it is that he has planned. I can’t wait to see how Lauv’s personal growth and self-discovery will continue to shape his music.
