It really is incredible how before our very eyes, Lauv has evolved as an independent pop music artist. And how I hear about, many new up-and-coming acts wanting to borrow a slice of his blueprint, so they might similarly gain some traction of their own. Ari Leff (Lauv’s real name) has become one remarkable success story, for sure. To think it was a little under a year ago that I first made mention of the rising pop sensations, hotly anticipated debut album “~how i’m feeling~” (Following an honest and heartrending, open letter to his fans explaining why the release had been stepped-back, it’s now arriving March 6th.) Lauv’s courage in coming forward and speaking out about his personal mental wellbeing has endeared as much as his music does. From here on in, the next stage of the album journey truly begins, first with another music offering “Tattoos Together.”
Unmistakably, the song feels like a new beginning for the singer, songwriter, producer and pop visionary. The track expresses the happiness felt when unexpectedly realising that what he thought was just the beginnings of a friendship, is rapidly blossoming into properly-being in love. His showing of affection is not sickly, sweet or a goofy kind of love. The Declan Whitebloom directed video clip, details the happy high, euphoria the first-flush of love brings. You will see a very happy, dance routine play out through the clip, but there is a spicy twist to look out for when coming to the end of the footage (i.e. my favourite bit.)
Love brought a smile to Lauv’s face, and now it’s his turn to spread the Lauv (bad pun – I had to) and plant a big grin on the faces of his fans.
