From her breakout into music, pop’s English rose and disco queen Sophie Ellis-Bextor has jumped at the chance of collaborating with established and up-and-coming producers worldwide. First creating an impression with Italian electronic music DJ and record producer Cristiano Spiller on “Groovejet“, prominent vocal features followed thick and fast where the singer teamed up with the club elite such like the Freemasons and Armin van Buuren. Even though her career is fast approaching almost two decades in the business, Sophie hasn’t slowed down by intermittently stepping aside from her own, recordings to get involved with a featured collaboration. German producer LCAW is the latest artist to call upon Sophie’s services, as the vocalist on the track “Hummingbird” which comes from his debut EP “Meet in the Middle“.
For those not familiar with the style in which LCAW works, it’s rather dreamy and subtly blended stylized EDM which has appeared on a slew of remixes that features London Grammar and ZHU among others. The style has transferred over on to the producers original material where he has already brought on board the likes of Dagny and young up-and-comer Sophie Hintze. Similarly on the exquisite disco groover “Hummingbird” featuring the lovely Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the track pulses with delicate touches of dance-tinged brilliance that are more sedate than the obvious, dancefloor filler.
From the sweet vocal of a songbird bringing to life a hummingbird charismatic, disco charmer of a track, this is one collaboration which glides like poetry in motion. It’s a stunning and rare clubland treat. If this is how LCAW intends to redefine disco, he can go ahead and keep on doing it because it is sublime, and truly glistens as dancefloor Dreamweaver and is a beautiful extension of his unique brand of evocative electronica.
