Am I right in thinking, that a playlist with a chilled vibe is what we need as we head into lockdown once again? The music Gods seem to have foreseen our needs, because much of the last few weeks music releases have delivered, dreamy, emotive, synth-wave grooves. Even pop became more thoughtful and lyrically poignant throughout the month. Whereas the EDM and indie genres have been keeping on doing what they do. You know the drill by now, we selected and wrote about the best new tracks, (as many as we could guzzle down our ears.) From those tracks, we’ve lovingly compiled, the November 2020, edition of the “This Beat Is Poptronik” playlist. With the hope that you will pop it into your ears when you feel you need to escape from the barrage of gloomy news bulletins, for a bit.

NOVEMBER 2020
Who is featured…?

I was over the moon synth-pop band Avec Sans gave our ears a jolt with their eargasmic track “Altitude.” The opening slot on the playlist is all theirs, it’s no less than they deserve.

I was similarly, super happy to see SHAED back. The ear-worm melody of “No Other Way” hasn’t left my head, since I wrote about the track over, two whole weeks ago.

On the flip-side, the best of the chilled vibes came from Eighty Ninety with “Better As Friends” and “Waste Your Time” from Meet Me in Orbit respectively.

Who has the best, thoughtful and poignant pop, release out at the moment…we voted unanimously on this one, Mickey Taylor’s collaboration with Lostchild on “Jokes,” came through as the outright winner.

Don’t miss gems from Sophie Ellis-BextorR3HAB, Astrid S & HRVYHarry StylesCyndi LauperIcona Pop X Sofi TukkerJosh Wantie and Conor Maynard.

Who you should have on your radar:

I know its a dance-pop track but, I really like the 220 Kid & JC Stewart track “Too Many Nights” a lot. Both artists are breaking out this year. Hot tips for tastemakers end of year lists? They should at least get mentions.

Clinton John is bringing the exact kind of musical vibes we love here on EQ Music Blog. The Nashville singer-songwriter pens, authentic, pop songs which resonate with soulfulness and intimacy. Check out “Fresh.”

HYYTS caught my attention since being picked up by Warner Records UK, in particular with the latest efforts which are co-written with Rationale and produced by Starsmith. The silky smooth and dreamy synth-pop of “SOS” is definitely, the kind of music I can quickly become obsessed with, how about you?

I am a bit late with jumping on the GRIFF bandwagon. The collaboration with Zedd on “Inside Out” is proper stunning and has turned me into an instant stan. I strongly URGE you to watch GRIFF’s recent live performance from The Tate Tanks. I don’t, say this lightly, it has nudged its way into top-position as my favourite live stream performance of the year. It is no mean feat, believe me, I have watched a ton of these streams since they took off this year.

Please DO go and explore the playlist and discover a new favourite track and/or artist for yourself. Share it with your friends if you like (It would make us stupidly happy if you did this 😉 )

We’ll update you again on “This Beat Is Poptronik” news sometime soon.
