Singer/songwriter Etham Basden possesses one of the most powerfully soulful, resonating voices with the capacity to render you weakened under its swoony spell. His alternative brand of late night R&B first came to light in his effectively, dramatic baby-making jam “Cold Love”. The newcomer isn’t in any rush to hit the big time, he’s more in tune with honing his craft at present. This careful approach by Etham is definitely paying dividends already – record labels had been on hot bricks to sign him up.

One thing is for certain, Etham has a cool head on his shoulders and his velvety smooth voice to compliments it. When most aspiring young artistes are more concerned with sealing a hit, Etham would rather choose to be recognized for his artistry, which we feel is on track to reap him a career based on longevity.

We caught up with Etham backstage at British Summer Time Festival this past week to talk about his single “Cold Love“, filming in Soho in the wee hours of the morning and some of his musical influences like Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and James Morrison.
