I just wanted to let our readers know that emerging alt-pop artist Sam Short has finally released her debut EP “Faulty Wiring,” and I couldn’t be more excited about it. I’ve had my eye on Sam for quite some time now. In fact ever since I came across her tracks “Naked” and “Taste It.” It is her raw and honest lyricism as far as I am concerned that really sets her apart from the crowd. Coupled with the knowledge that I always know I’m in for an emotional rollercoaster whenever she drops new material. She has a unique gift for crafting intensely honest and powerful songs that really hit you in the feels and bring on the ugly crying. I think her EP title track, “Faulty Wiring,” is a perfect example of this.
Even though her solo recording artist journey is all but at its beginning. Let me tell you, Sam has continually blown me away with her brutally honest and vulnerable music. She’s not afraid to get personal and share her deepest emotions through her intimate alt-pop sound.
Nowhere more so than on the track “Faulty Wiring” where Sam says,…
“My song ‘Faulty Wiring’ brings to the table a newfound realisation: the idea that I may not ever truly “solve” myself, rather, I will need to come to terms with the fact that I am simply wired differently.
Sam’s lyrical prowess is reminiscent of Sinead O’Connor’s interpretation of Prince track “Nothing Compares 2 U” in its ability to convey endearing, vulnerable emotion. She serves her words on a platter, where she allows us to see deep into her thoughts. The rawness of her bare-boned lyrics expresses what truly hitting rock bottom sounds like. It’s a powerful and moving experience that will leave you feeling both raw and affected.
I just watched the truly moving music video for “Faulty Wiring” directed by Ivy Tellin and Callum Walker Hutchinson. It was so powerful to see Sam being vulnerable and sharing her real emotions with the world. I am really inspired by her courage and honesty. I feel like this is just the beginning of her journey and I can’t wait to see where she goes from here. Her vision is truly unique, and I know she’s going to do big things.
A force to be reckoned with. Sam Short has already secured an opening slot for ELIO on tour in March 2023. She has also sold out LA’s infamous Hotel Cafe and Winston House and performed at NYC’s Anti-Social Summer Camp + Festival.
