Alt-pop sensation GIRLI is back with exciting news. After wrapping up the US leg of her world headline tour, she’s closing in on the release of her sophomore album “Matriarchy” on May 17th, 2024. Throughout this album, GIRLI is taking a deeper dive into her identity and pouring all of her emotions into her music. What’s more her girlfriend serves as a significant source of inspiration for these new tracks. These are a beautiful blend of love and feminist themes. Although, as a fan of electronic pop. Above all, I am most excited about her new single “Crush Me Up.” As on the track GIRLI is exploring her synth-pop roots once again.
It’s fascinating to see how GIRLI’s music is evolving in this era. Since noticeably, the recent singles have been quite diverse in terms of their themes. In “Matriarchy,” she delivered an empowering anthem. Whereas “Be With Me” celebrated self-love and “Nothing Hurts Like A Girl” saw her reflect upon heartbreak. With “Crush Me Up,” GIRLI is again taking a new direction, showing her willingness to experiment and grow as an artist.
Explaining “Crush Me Up“, GIRLI said – it’s, “A song about crushing so hard on someone it’s like the image of them is playing on an infinite loop on a TV inside your head. But it’s a nice kind of crush; a required one, you equally thirst for each other.”
The music video accompanying the song highlights the same theme as the lyrics. The video captures GIRLI getting up close and personal with her crush on the dancefloor, showcasing both intimate moments and moments of pure euphoria. GIRLI is making a bold move to get to know her crush better.
