I thought good things might start to happen for pop newcomer Millie Turner after she came out with the alluring track “She Was A Dancer” this summer. This week I read the news Millie’s one of the First Fifty artists revealed to play the Great Escape festival 2019. Before the event kicks off next year, she will play one of the First Fifty exclusive gigs which take place in East London, November 27th – 29th. Also this week I got the heads-up about her splendid new track and video “Night Running.”

I am finding it hard to get my little brain around the fact Millie is just eighteen years of age. The way she’s carries off her vocal performance is way beyond her years. It is her mellow, verging on ethereal voice matched with emotively styled lyrics in which she pours out her soul. Team this with sonically, steeped soundscapes, the results are soothing and evocative. It has quickly become Millie Turner’s signature sound, and one she doesn’t shy away from but builds upon on the new release.

“To me, “Night Running” is an anthem of youth, a movement of people who get energy from the night. In some way I want it to inspire people to appreciate that moment, to keep that sense of excitement wherever and whoever they are.” says the singer.

You certainly catch these feelings from the after-hours, vibey dance track. From the video, we see the singer out for a jaunt around London Town with her besties. After a night out together in the city, prior to making their journey back home. The friends fuelled by their good times together, dance their way to the heart of the London underground system. Because this night isn’t over until their heads hit their pillows.

As one of pop’s newcomers, she has a very endearing quality in her music. It is melancholic yet hopeful, sweet yet danceable and different to most. I have a huge feeling, if there was ever an emerging artist to watch closely, it is Millie Turner.

Millie is also readying herself for a run of residency shows at Paper Dress Vintage in London where all her music truly comes alive. You can head down to any of the following shows – November 14th / December 5th. Tickets can be bought – HERE
