After catching a showcase by electronic pop provocateurs Night Drive at the 2016 SXSW music festival, we’ve been hopeful of new material reaching us. Owing to the fact, the duo put on a show, heaped of new-wave excitement and quite delicious dark pop content.
A short time ago, I was alerted to Night Drive’s debut album campaign kicking in and was granted a sneaky listen to the sci-fi inspired synthiness percolating, therein. The track which spoke out to me above the rest of the self-titled long player was “Trapeze Artist Regrets”, which just so happens to be the current focus single of the album campaign.
The most striking thing about the track to me was the pure mesmerizing combination of pulsing rhythm set at a dance ready pace, sidled up against a vocal which has the metal of post-punk edginess. This is a resurgence of electronic pop which will strike a chord with anyone who whiled away their brooding teenage hours with bands like Echo and the Bunnymen, The Cure and Siouxsie and the Bansheees feeding their heads with magnetizing beats, nouveau sounds and gutsy lyrics.
Pre-order the album now and you’ll receive 4 insta grat tracks including this noir drenched offering. Quite frankly, I can tell you that this track alone will be enough to have you foaming at the mouth with anticipation, when the album arrives.
