Hey, did you hear about WHAM!‘s fortieth-anniversary celebration? It’s been in the works for a long time, but they’ve been celebrating for a while now. You might remember, Wham!’s Andrew Ridgeley and Dru Masters teamed up to form Drummar – and remixed the iconic summer anthem, sharing the (Wonderland Redux Remix) last year. It’s hard to believe that “Club Tropicana” still remains as fresh as it was since when it was first released. In honor of the ruby anniversary, it would be a shame not to give it some kind of update again. With this in mind, therefore, British DJ Sigala and producer extraordinaire Manovski have given it a new Balearic Breeze makeover. So we know to expect sunshine and good vibes whatever the weather does outside!
The new remix is a small part of the commemorations marking the duo’s forty years in pop. In addition, Netflix is now showing a feature-length documentary called “Wham! The Documentary“. This documentary tells the incredible story in their own words of how the duo dominated the charts around-the-world with hit after hit in just four years.
What is more, there is a new compilation album, “WHAM! The Singles: Echoes From The Edge Of Heaven“, arrives on Friday, the 7th of July. It’s definitely something to look forward to!
It seems like it’s become the norm for anniversary editions to be released during the Christmas season or at the year’s end. But WHAM! has always been an exception to rules. There are so many timeless songs to choose from when it comes to finding the perfect track for a special occasion. The sheer volume of classic hits recorded by this legendary band means that any one of their pop smash hits could be the ideal choice to help mark a milestone moment. Their legacy is undeniable, and it’s no surprise that everything they ever recorded has stood the test of time and remained popular to this day.
“WHAM! The Singles: Echoes From The Edge Of Heaven” is released on July 7th and is available to pre-order now.
