In our latest Boys On Film review, Phil and Raj take on the new Dutch-language thriller, The Columnist.

From IMDB: Columnist and author Femke is flooded with anonymous nasty messages and death threats on social media. One day she has enough and decides to take revenge.

Whatever you do…don’t read the comments!

No matter how hard you try, it’s very difficult to avoid the comments on your social media posts – whether it’s a YouTube video, extensive blog expose, or published work in a most respectable news outlet – for every bit of appreciative support you get – the trolls will surely be there as well to bring you down. And for that – they MUST DIE. <joking> <not joking?>

Both of your London based gay film boys just absolutely loved, loved loved this movie. It’s a witty and satirical take on internet trolls which boldly answers the question, “What would it be like to murder your haters?”

I have to admit – I’ve thought “offing” my haterz on occasion with some of the early bullying I got here on this blog when I started it up in 2007 – which is why I think I loved this movie so much. Of course I never did that (or did I), I chose to take the advice of Michelle Obama to go high when they went low. That is truly the key to success. But nevertheless, The Columnist is a lot of fun to indulge in.

The Columnist gets a UK release date on March 12th and both Phil and Raj highly recommend you check out this wicked little foreign film. It’s quality. Look for it on PVOD too.
