An incredible 60 year long charting career in music. A feat that is most definitely not either matched or surpassed by many pop veterans. When it’s a record held by the iconic songstress Petula Clark it suddenly becomes even more spectacular when aside from her classic singles “Downtown” and “I Couldn’t Live Without Your Love”. In recent times, we first remember that rather beautiful, airy ballad “Cut Copy Me” Petula had the whole online pop blogging world buzzing about back in 2013.
For a doyen of pop throughout the years it’s hard to imagine there would be any firsts left to accomplish but surprisingly the one thing that Petula has never done before, is make an appearance in a promotional pop music video.
Just as Petula came out to surprise us with the splendid “Cut Copy Me”, she’s back to doing it some more with “Sacrifice My Heart”. The first track lifted off her forthcoming new album “From Now On”.
More grandiose in its opulent use of electronics and orchestral arrangements than that of Petula’s 2013 hit.“Sacrifice My Heart” adheres to an otherworldly beautified tone whilst complementing Petula’s empyrean vocals. It showcases the singer who has lost no passion for her craft. More to the point, there appears to be no end game in sight, only new experiences to be had, like making pop videos.
Speaking of, like Petula herself. The video for “Sacrifice My Heart” is personified in an atmosphere etched of a timeless elegance, befitting of a performer and artiste who quite rightly continues to be held in such high regard for her astonishing array of accomplishments through the years.
In terms of modern music and this single “Sacrifice My Heart”, Petula Clark remains gracefully riding high on it, in a league of her own making. When all sounds as beautiful as this does, long may it continue Pet!
