EDO

Of all of Europe, Italy is not a country that we see stepping forward into the realm of pop so much. At any rate the big voiced popera trio Il Volo are probably regarded as Italy’s biggest global pop success story.

We know the Italians as a nation to have particular strengths towards the operatic end of the spectrum, yet pop really doesn’t get so much of a look-in when speaking of Italian music in general.

Interesting then, when we just recently had an email sent over from a new artist under the name of EDO, that on closer inspection lead us to learn that he comes from Florence in Italy, but has moved across to New York to study and pursue a career in music. Pop / EDM music at that!

Gripped in curiosity we found EDO to be the artist name belonging to Edoardo Ferragamo, a close relative of high fashion entrepreneur Salvatore Ferragamo, world renowned for making shoes.

We could see this as EDO following in his grandfather’s footsteps, as both relocated across the Atlantic to live out their American dreams, as it were.

For EDO the dream is just beginning!

The recent release of EDO’s debut track “One Day Closer” reveals a slice of pop crafting which is highly effective, gauging mainstream pop sensibilities and strongly leading musicality at play.

Showing a flair for nailing down a melodically solid chorus, EDO is well on the way to show the world he has cast his rockstar ambitions aside to become reinvented as a bone fide player in the arena of pop.

Whilst EDO is concentrating on his newly accrued skillset of pop and EDM production seeking onboard pal Nate Evans for the role of vocal assist proves a choice well met Evans soulful tones hit all the right chords of aural pleasure whereby, they give out a rather commanding swoonful croon, which is definite to bring on a happy smile

As befits the love-lorn theme of the song, the video follows the story of a young couple discovering their love for one another. Spectacularly they’ve hit the dust trail in some Americana plains to really get to know each another, under a teepee canvas.

Such an opportunity for a former rock guitar player to steal the show by sneaking in a few frames of his expert Fender playing out in the desert setting would be a chance wasted if it hadn’t happened.

EDO is really, quite a fascinating all-round find isn’t he!
