Rebecca Fiona

The totally babilicious Rebecca & Fiona have just put a new single out called ‘Drugstore Lovin’ which in itself doesn’t play up to their former ventures into pop and EDM crafting.

Instead the Swedish DJ’s turned pop duo are really, altogether going out on the furthest limb they have ever cared to cross over when it comes to evolving their sound.

The biggest hint of influence behind Rebecca & Fiona’s metamorphosing sound appears likeliest to have come from listening to lots of vintage Madonna. The queen of pop may not have faired too greatly with her own last few releases, but when it comes to others transitioning into the realm of pop, Madge remains the female artist all new budding starlets take their learned lessons from.

In the case of Rebecca & Fiona and their new single ‘Drugstore Lovin’, there is every indication that the ladies might have been feeling on the vibes of Madonna’s album from 1986, the iconic ‘True Blue‘.

All Madonna like influence stops there, albeit for the ladies stirring up some visual & lyrical controversy that is.

In what could have first been assumed as ‘Drugstore Lovin’ being used as a metaphor, highlighting the effects from experiencing natural highs of being in love. Rebecca & Fiona have cast out a different sense of meaning by turning a pharmacy into a disco. Given their background as DJ’s and veterans of the nightclub scene, sure in their way the ladies are just turning some of the more unsavory goings on that exist in club culture on the flip-side and NOT glamourizing it though.
