Michael Remesi 1

We as TV viewers watch music franchise reality show’s like X Factor, Idol, The Voice, week in, week out. As much as they have become seen as being a spotlight platform to launch unsigned artists, there are so many applicants the world over now who have gained 15 minutes of recognition through these programmes, that weren’t necessarily ready enough in their artistry to go the full distance at that particular point in time. For some, it might have been a case of last bite of the cherry, for others the beginnings of a career in performance. For the mentors involved it often becomes a bittersweet role to have undertaken and the advice we most often hear from these professionals to the eliminated applicants is moreover, ‘never give up on the dream

For some the process would have proved too much, others though, will take the professional mentors advice to the letter.

Michael Remesi hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina is one such artist who sought out a path to establishing a career in music through both the American Idol and X Factor processes. Although, it all came to fruition some time ago now, Michael has stayed true to his vision and carried onwards doing what he loves. This being; writing, recording and releasing pop songs.

Michael is the epitome of the “never give up on the dream” spirit of motivation, and further to this is gearing up drop “Chromehearts” a new EP collection of electronic pop tracks, January 2016.

Leading into this new project comes the release of “1 4 U” which we premiere today here on EQ.

Don’t be guided by the styling of the “1 4 U” track title so much, because yes it kinda misleads you into thinking it’s all a bit Prince inspired. No you shouldn’t be expecting, slap bass and funk to play a part in this though, as it is firmly grounded in an atmospherically hazy, electronic palette.

The sonically seductive mood setting of “1 4 U” is a definite turn of direction for Michael, whose previous efforts have concentrated upon the dance-pop end of the electronic pop spectrum. A new direction which enables the full meaning of the song lyrics to become a greater point of focus within the overall music package and not suffer the dimishing effects of being under the thud of characterless, cookie cutter beats of EDM.

The sensual beats of this track do much to accentuate upon the torch song nature behind the lyrical narrative, which tells a story of unrequited love and longing desires to be responsively recognized as a potential lover.

The candid lyrics “exploit this opportunity and this is when you’ll finally see” are suggestive that this lovelorn person has got his eye on one prize and this one lover prize only will be the key to the remedy of his heightened desires.

Much see “1 4 U” as being Michael’s most emotively potent effort yet, in that it leaves both a provocative and re-envisioned lasting impression of Michael’s work in it’s wake. One in which I hope Michael might pursue in this vein further, since I see this sonic style as something which shows good scope for Michael to continue to build upon.
