Nadav Guedj

Eurovision 2016, gave us many shocks and twists of which we are still reeling from. It really was quite a surreal experience for me this year, as being someone who has watched the contest year-on-year since I was about 6 years old, there was a notable lack of at least ‘a’ novelty act. Something which has been curiously part and parcel of the ESC tradition, throughout its beloved history.

Instead we had a show in which the voting viewers, elbowed out pop to a greater extent even in the qualifying heats and it all became quite a serious minded event.

Credit to the fabulous hosts Måns Zelmerlöw and Petra Mede who saw to it themselves that this fun aspect of Eurovision craziness was not gone un-catered for. As thankfully, it was Måns and Petra who stepped into the breach and gave us the ultimate visually camp spectacle with their fun packed interval piece titled “Love Love Peace Peace”, which had everything of the bizarre, out on-a-limb quirky nature of the Eurovision entrants we have come to expect. Just not so much this year’s entrants!

At least Eurovision 2015 had a smatteringly of quirky pop offerings, of which we quite picked up a particular liking to the young Golden Boy from Israel, Nadav Guedj, who rocked a gold pair of pumps and through the lyrics of his song openly declared himself the king of fun! It’s was glorious, it was pure Eurovision bliss and everyone was dancing and up for the party! We all got that it was light-hearted and let’s be honest we loved it all the more because of it didn’t we?!

Beneath all the fun, you could still catch sight that Nadav had a good set of pipes on him, which has been evident through the flurry of single releases which have subsequently paved the way to realizing his debut album.

Whilst, Nadav is currently in the process of tying up work on the debut album, he has served a reminder of his Eurovision 2015 involvement, by dishing out new single “Hold The City” directly after this year’s event.

Nothing of which Nadav has put out to date, better displays his vocal prowess than “Hold The City” to be honest. Nadav always had a slick soul-pop vocal which given the right melodically funky circumstances had the tendency to steer him in a Justin Timberlake kind of template anyways.

You can just hear everything of JT/ Timbaland vibed similarity in here.

If this is what is coming before the album drops, suspect Nadav might well have more than a few golden voiced funky pop gems in the can, that will make their way to us in the all too near future.

After hearing “Hold The City”, I for one, await them with interest.
