Little Boots

Last year saw Little Boots explore the world of business through the gauze of her electronic pop engineered third album “Working Girl”. Boots really got behind the working environment meets technology concept too, as if you might recall everything around this campaign came involved of a corporate business model. Where newsletters became memo’s, videos geared towards presentations and the songs inclined themselves towards documenting Little Boots transitioning from an artist signed to a major record label to that who has now struck out independently under her own esteem as of C.E.O. her own label On Repeat Records.

What can be said of Little Boots, is that she is meticulous to the last. As with the “Working Girl” promotion campaign actioned and signed-off as completed she’s going in on one last account of this professional venture’s era by serving up a couple of slinky tracks known as the “Afterhours” EP.

As the “Afterhours” name suggests these tracks, the Richard X produced “Staring At The Sun” and the Sam Sparro co-penned “Face To Face”, are both representative of what happens once you’ve logged out and powered down from the day of 9-to-5 working. Whereby the tone becomes nestled into a hazy, soulful assisted dispatch of soothing beats and wistful vox encouraging the importance of stepping away from the lure of technology to take time out with partners, friends etc. in aiding the well-being of revitalizing body, mind and spirit.

There’s a ban on taking work home, it’s strictly left behind the office door in favour of leisure pursuits and quality time with those closest around, for working girl Little Boots.

Face To Face” is the pin-pointer of this on the minimalist two track long EP. In doing so, the sound goes full circle and brings Little Boots back into the clubs of where she started out.
