Monarchy 1

Maybe I missed the memo which announced that Monarchy were about to release a new single!

Although, I’m sure that Ra and Andrew are never so far away from their studio where they masterfully play around with new music ideas.

There has been a fair amount of online referencing to being the studio though, together with numerous announcements of show and festival dates in the coming months. So maybe it should come as no surprise at all that Ra and Andrew would choose to unveil new material as they prepare to set-up stage during the height of festival season.

Last week, Monarchy called out a new track called “Dance Like Hell” as an expected single release, promptly teasing it with a trailer which it is used to promote the Mad Cool festival in Madrid this summer, where the duo are to perform on opening night.

True to Monarchy form, the single plays to a synth-pop addicts insatiable cravings with frenetically charged artistic flair and Monarchy’s signature aesthetic which was most prevalent from the “Around The Sun” era making a return.

Monarchy have turned the corner from the dark-pop period of sophomore album “Abnocto” and are back to giving us something to dance hard too.

In its surprise announcement last week Ra and Andrew had these words to say about the track: “Here’s a song we wrote for you. We were living a near death life. There’s a beautiful freedom to be found there. Hope you like it.

A statement presumably referencing the duo’s bordering on dissolvement of the Monarchy project last year.

Thankfully whatever bump in the road they hit, they have bounced back from. Since, in the launching of effervescent “Dance Like Hell” it’s hella good to have Ra and Andrew firing up a synth-pop storm once again.
