rumours 1

The smoky tones of up-and-coming, electronic trio Rumours and their new single “So Bad” have lit up my audio senses today.

The trio made up of members from Norway and Italy are about to realise their debut EP “Shapes”, which is to form a fluid concept between the audio and the visual aesthetics through geometric constructions.

That might sound rather like a maths lesson to you and I, but that’s the jist of the description the press release gave me.

The only science at play here, is the knowledge of good composition and balance though. So we can all breathe a sigh of relief and get with this slick tuneage pronto!

When at first “So Bad” kicks up a rather moody ambience, it is all too easy to assume that we’re in for another of these pensive and quite dreary cuts that have been so prevalent, but it’s immediately rescued by the rich depth and soulfulness that the male vocal lead, Mark possesses. It’s vocal sex on a level of modern day Barry White, i.e the complete polar opposite of falsetto.

Add in a little softness and sweetly delivered harmonizing by way of lone lady member Marion and this track instantly becomes, alluring, potent and intoxicating that you’d want to make children to it.

Yes it’s very that! But is also so dreamy and seriously good.

Some bands can pump out streams of tracks which only half-way touch upon how affecting “So Bad” is.

This is Rumours third track all told and they are already serving up, a sure-fire future sound that will be on the hot tip of electronic pop radars come the end of the year.

Signing off with a one word review: LUSH!
