Rebel Westerns Promo Shot 2

It seems to us that every couple of years, Scotland produces a new top of the league synth-pop band, the like of which utterly and intensely catches our attention.

Need we say more than give them their due name-check… Chvrches and Prides.

Whatever is going on with regard to indie formed synth-pop north of the border that is so greatly yielding such an abundance of electronic mastery. Is however, certainly showing no signs of slowing down. Because there is a new band project in the Rebel Westerns who appear likeliest of being considered the next electronic-pop buzz band out of Scotland.

The Rebel Westerns are Edinburgh four-piece outfit: Dominic Thomson (vocals, guitar), Callum Munro (bass), Glen Gordon (keyboard) and Daniel Garvie (drums). Who between them, display a cannae knack of stringing together hook laden, electronic lit melodies with a distinctive indie-pop flair. Pretty much in-keeping with the same artistic integrity that their fellow Scottish music peers have become so renowned for.

Ask the Rebel Westerns where their music fits in within the scheme of things and they’d tell you their identity errs more to the side of bands like Foals and The 1975. Sure there is inspiration of that in their music, most noticeably coming through on new single “Atomic Blonde”.

The single acts as clear demonstration, that not only do these lads know their way of penning an addictively, synth-pop dressed melody but also have substantial songwriting skills. Which they splendidly bring about to address a more intelligently intense dimension to their material, than we might at first be hearing.

All-in-all this assuredly crafted indie-pop savvy “Atomic Blonde” looks set to confidently stir up some serious interest in our opinion. So, much so that we are honoured to premiere the video.

Have no misgivings about it, the Rebel Westerns boldly confident style and all round knowledgeable artistry will ensure that they are not seen as a flash-in-the-pan. If anything, justifiably because their shaping of ear pleasing pop is a concept that is largely proven to work!
