Now as we have learned through the media, at this point in time Gwen is going through the emotionally painful, post break-up cycle after parting ways with husband Gavin Rossdale. To which she is clearly using her creative outlets as a part of her healing process.
I’m all for turning a negative situation into a positive and Gwen’s plucky resolve it seems, is much of the same choosing.
By exposing some of the pain, hurt and turbulence that she has been dealt, the singer has channeled as much of her experiences into new powerfully teary ballad “Used To Love You”.
The fresh emotional rawness is only heightened by the strikingly captured visual which centres only on Gwen as she sits looking in to a camera reflecting upon all that has happened to her. It isn’t long before the pain that the popster is feeling, comes visibly to light etched across the beautiful contours of her face in a series of outwardly sincere but tormented expressions.
In pop music video terms this is Gwen’s own, Sinead O’Connor “Nothing Compares 2 U” moment.
Boy though, through it do we identify with Gwen’s inner turmoil!
Stunning work, but as so often is the case with heartbreak pop songs as deeply giving as “Used To Love You” is, it comes with a real experience emotional price tag.
