Avec Sans have been hot favourites with us since their mysterious beginnings. Interestingly enough it was this same song “Perth”, a synth-pop reimagining of Bon Iver’s indie-folk lament that first stirred up a flurry of online excitement for the duo.
Jack and Alice have since pieced together a stunning collection of pristine tracks along the way to the recent release of their debut album “Heartbreak Hi”. We’d tell a lie, if we didn’t mention that we’ve quite loved on each and every one of them with equal measure.
Returning the spotlight to “Perth” is not a bad decision at this point in time. It actually makes perfect sense to jump back a step to where it all began, especially so as it follows on from the duo recently having their tour game in full flow In support of the album launch.
For those fans who haven’t yet witnessed the spectacle that is Avec Sans live, the “Perth” video gives the biggest and boldest insight into what the duo bring to the stage setting. Plenty of tech, light pads, and projections enabling Jack and Alice to create a futuristic backdrop which fits in brilliantly with their shimmery, otherworldy electronica.
Of “Perth”, well Avec Sans ethereally pulsing treatment has made it much as their own. It really does bring new life to the song, in a way that is quite removed from the original, but all the same carries the poignant sentiment and emotive charge just set to an altogether differently impressing wall of sound.
