Garek 1

I don’t hear from pop auteur Garek too often but when his name does pop up in my inbox I am instantly taken over by all sorts of excitement to look into it swiftly, since I’ve come to know that whatever Garek is eager to share with me will be nothing less than a spectacle of some sorts.

True to form in its arrival this week Garek hasn’t let me down with the release of new track “My Animal” being that it is both riveting musically and visually.

As strong romping bleats of pulsating electronica take hold Garek feeds the creative fire by turning on his androgynous presence giving of an assured vocal performance and extending his artistic licence into the dynamic of creatively artistic storytelling visuals. All whilst inviting RuPaul Drag Race contestant Miss Fame into the animalistic visual prism to put her best pout forward.

For the record Garek is not getting off by watching his own pop videos or neither super obsessed by surrounding himself with montages of his self image, the premise here is more tongue-in-cheek in reference of vanity, narcissistic outlook and feeding the ego which is representative within social media culture.

But for those who haven’t quite gotten the concept here Garek has responded to the negative feedback left on Youtube, what does he think of the haters? I’d say his put-downs say it all and are as entertaining as I found the “My Animal” video to be, but then I took it all in the spirit it was intended to begin with.

My Animal” comes from Garek’s recently released “Take The King” Vol 1 EP.
