Atlas Genuis 1

Big up to the Aussies for continuing to give birth to an aesthetically diverse outreach of electronic productive music acts. As by far these days, it is Australia that provides more expansive growth in this our favourite genre.

Actually I don’t consider that there has been such a slow down in the Australian electronic music scene as there has been so noticeably of decline elsewhere, so pop scout points goes out to the Australian nation on that front.

One such OZ-tastic electronic act that has flagged up my curiosity lately is the duo of Atlas Genius made up of brothers Keith and Michael Jeffery who bring onside various guesting musicians as and when needed as a band set-up.

These guys are into launching their sophomore album “Inanimate Objects” which I’ve just absorbed a full 40 minute playback of, and all in all it traverses a bridge formed of pop/rock, fired up with a healthy dose of blazing synths – in a most impressively assured level of performance.

In particular the direct source of my instant appreciation of the band comes via “Molecules” the album’s lead track.

Indie guitars, co-habiting with dizzying synths are offered up on the empowering cut which rattles with a euphoric release of anthemic sized power. Additionally to this, the track is made up of creepy cool lyrics. Say, how’s this for an opening line?…….. “We steal the molecules from the dead”! somewhat ghoulishly fantastic…… yes!

Rousing synth pop it maybe, but let’s just hope in our enjoyment of these exhilarating fizzing sounds and lighting fx heavy performance visuals it doesn’t bring about a Zombie apocalypse!
