There is a dark feeling surrounding the planet nowadays. Children who did not have the chance to grow up in the golden age of arcades don’t now know the magic of pocket change.  With your weekly allowance there was nothing better than taking that change over to the local arcade or grocery store and getting yourself away from reality with a dose of Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, or even Centipede. For purveyor of electro-pop Young Brother, he reminds us all of a time where we got sucked into the magic of the 8-bit world with his latest video “Kamikaze”.

Yeah, he’s taken a year to come out with the video to his debut but…it’s worth it! A little patience brings out the best in an artist. The video for “Kamikaze” throws you into the eyes of a young child. Given a moment with a controller in the hand, the kid can become anything they ever wanted to be. Sucked into the video game world, Young Brother slips on his Walkman headphones to save the 8-bit universe. Just like every adventurous game, a dangerous mission takes him to heroic heights ending in a very “graphic” way. Through 80’s video game references, a lo-fi filter and a killer synth melody, Young Brother really expresses the true magic of what it was like to be a child in the height of the classic arcade era. A feeling that kids today will never understand.

We wrote that over a year ago that Young Brother was an artist to keep an eye on. If this is the kind of work he produces in a year’s time. Who knows what he’ll bring next. We’ll be watching…
