It’s Konichiwa to the Japanese cyber-pop trio of Perfume once more.
If you recall, it was pop-love in an instant when we struck across Perfume bringing the house down with a wondrous pop spectacle at SXSW in 2015. We were won over by the girl’s super sleek performance which was choreographed in precision, down into an art-form. Quite frankly what else would we be expecting of the tech-minded nation and three of its long-serving but forward thinking pop ambassadors!
Whatever it is that has kept these girls together for a 15 year stint, is something that girl groups worldwide could learn from. I know this much!
News just in, there’s no hint in sight of stopping the J-pop ball rolling yet, as the worldwide release of the band’s 6th studio album “Cosmic Explorer” is just around the corner.
Welcoming our near future cosmic experience in its imminent arrival, the Asian cuties cut through a reveal by way of electro emblazoned focus single “Flash”, which true to Perfume’s highly sought credentials in their native Asia has found its way locked into endorsement on a movie soundtrack for the two-fold film “Chihayafuru” series.
Endorsements and brand tie-in’s are famously regarded as part and parcel of Perfume’s longevity. And, we gots to hand it to these girls, as they are cute, astute and savvy. Right down to the kick-ass co-ordinated ninja moves they exhibit in the “Flash” video promo clip, which us Westerners should take note, fully embodies and relates to the Manga animation subject which lies at the cultural heart of the movie (and highlighted in the additional movie trailer below).
Can we now get on side and break out a little salute to Perfume for all that they have given and continue to trail-blaze in cutting edge dynamics for all of future girl-band pop kind.
