The boys of Naked Highway are always known to really set the tone for a perfect night. Though, sometimes all things that glitter aren’t gold. Some nights can really take a turn for the worse.  For the latest single by NYC’s favourite glam pop duo, the truth behind the nightlife scene is captured in their latest single ‘Call Girls.’

‘Call Girls’ is a dark and mature turn in the evolution of Naked Highway. Now with the darker edge, you’re not being robbed of the synth stylings of the Naked Highway we all know and love. There is a dance-like edge reminiscent of Depeche Mode that keeps an emotion over the song that immerses you into the life of the call girl described in the lyrics. the track tells the story of a girl who is really too consumed in the fantasy of a constant party.  With Sy’s lower register in his vocals, you get this hint of mystery behind who this woman really is. The most beautiful part of the song is that if you’re not looking at the music video, there a vision of the nightlife that plays out in your mind’s eye. You’re left to think about all the darker elements of the nightlife. The coming home drunk and hung over, the constant chasing of the high that you may not ever obtain. You’re completely immersed into this woman’s life.

With a very thought provoking song comes an equally fitting video. Taking us on a drive through NYC to some of their favourite nightlife haunts. The boys of Naked Highway drive us home from what appears to be a long night chasing the “rush of the city.” In the back of the car, it appears that Sy is reminiscing of the excitement he experienced with David Lee Rotten. It’s quite the visual piece considering since Naked Highway shot the video, some of these clubs and bars have closed up for good. So we’re glad they could preserve the atmosphere by sharing it with us in ‘Call Girls.’
