Guy Sebastian

Even though he’s had quite an illustrious career as a bone fide popstar, Australia’s Mr hot stuff, Guy Sebastian himself has never completely won me over with his urbanely groomed tunes. So much so that I kind of lost all track of him under his hit factory popping formulamatic approached releases.

In truth, if it wasn’t for Eurovision taking the unprecedented move of inviting Australia to submit an entrant into the competition this year, I might well have forgotten all about Guy Sebastian, because the earlier tracks never really stood out to me in a way of being anything of significant difference than like-for-like manufactured pop.

This isn’t to say Guy doesn’t possess a more than fair set of pipes on him, because he sure does and they are certainly in fine fettle on newest release “Black & Blue”, of which we are pleased to affirm is a wholly ear pleasing slab of unadulteratedly sultry EDM.

Gotta say I’m especially loving the soulful timbre of Guy’s vox heading up these intensely infectious electro beats, plus the the popcorn erupting riffs that form the bridge are just so crazily good. Infact, these simple things alone will see me music happy for days.

Like most club orientated tracks the theme through “Black & Blue” isn’t so heavy and is typical Guy Sebastian tropes. All of meeting the girl, loosing the girl, wanting the girl back and emotionally beating yourself “Black & Blue” about it.

Oh well never mind, out of it and its (yes!) club themed video. I’ve actually found a song of Guy Sebastian’s that I really quite like. So much so, I might actually have to check in on Guy Sebastian and his pop antics are little more closely now.
