Only 9 months after releasing “Elysium,” Pet Shop Boys will return with a new album this June. The announcement came on Thursday after the band announced they would be leaving their record label of 25 years to join Kobalt Records. The new album, “Electric” will arrive this June and it sounds like it will be a dance record!

Here is the official announcement via the official Pet Shop Boys website:

“We are hugely proud of the new album and are very pleased to be working in conjunction with Kobalt. We’d like to thank everyone we’ve worked with at Parlophone over the last 28 years both in the UK and abroad. When we signed to the label in 1985 we had no idea how long and successful a relationship we were embarking on. However it is also exciting now to commence a new phase working with a new team in a new business structure and we look forward to a creative and equally fulfilling relationship with Kobalt.”

While some fans were disappointed with the relaxed sound of “Elysium,” I thought it was a great record. It featured more ballads than I hoped for but “Leaving” was probably one of my favorite songs last year. This new record sounds like it will put Pet Shop Boys back in the nightclubs and I am certain it will be followed by a tour. Kobalt record executives are already calling “Electric” a classic. Is it wishful thinking, or will this be one of the best Pet Shop Boys records? EQ will certainly let you know the details as they come in.

In the meantime, take a look at this kick ass teaser for the new album. I can hardly wait!
