Happy Monday EQs.  Big apologies for the lack of updates over the weekend, I was feeling a little bit under the weather and everytime I sat down to blog, a huge feeling of ‘oooh, I don’t feel so well’ started to envelop me.  That’s ok though, I got to catch up on some DVDTV that I have been meaning to watch for awhile – I watched the entire Season 4 of Nip/Tuck, Season 2 of Justice League Unlimited (I know – geekazoid) and even tucked into Episode 1 of Dexter which is quite eerie and creepy, but I love it.  And for anyone that knows me, you’ll know that Battlestar Galactica Season 3 comes out today on DVD and let’s just say I’ll probably be fighting with Geri over the plasma this week and I’ll have to hide Heroes Season 1 from him when it comes in the mail tomorrow in order to curb my Battlestar Galactica hunger.  LOL.  With all this geekness around me, you would think that I would never have time to listen to music.  So having said that…on with the music rants…

  1. I’ve just listened to William Besson’s electronic EP called ‘Triggers’ and it’s pretty good.  I’m a bit eh, about the last track called ‘Glitch’ only because if features a sample of George Bush speaking and that totally turns me off.  But I reserve judgment for a later time as I found myself really liking it and maybe there is some political message I should be hearing about in ‘Glitch’ so I guess I’ll just have another listen some other time.  But I will review it for all of you, cuz like I said – it’s good.  More William Besson here too where you can listen to most of the tracks…
  2. I officially got my Bim cd over the weekend and it’s amazing as well.  ‘The Battle’ and ‘Ready To Love’ are just phenominal tracks.  I keep going on and on about Bim and you know what – I will keep doing so until some EQ reader comments back and says ‘you know what Raj – you were right’.  LOL.  More Bim here as well – BUY the album, Bim is one of the freshest bands you’ll wish you discovered earlier.
  3. Ugh – ok, Geri and I need to come up with a way to have separate iTunes accounts cuz everytime I go to update my iPod and listen to my latest batch of music, some funny Italian song comes on that he’s downloaded!  Oh my – the things we do for love…
  4. I’ve kinda overdosed on Sergey Lazarev.  Of course you know that already don’t you.  I do plan on doing some more features on Sergey soon though – like my wishlist of the tracks that will appear on his UK debut album as well as a fun interview that I am hoping to finalise with him soon.  He is a really talented guy.  You should be VERY interested.
  5. That song I posted by Belinda called ‘If We Were’ (not Carlisle) – I can’t get enough of it.  I might have to do some follow-up features on her too – what do you think?
  6. Ming & Ping – AMAZiNG.  I haven’t fully yet absorbed the brilliance of ‘Causeway Army’ yet but everytime I’ve had a listen this past weekend – I’m like -‘why the fuck didn’t I know about them earlier?’
  7. You may have noticed an incredible acoustic track called ‘Endless’ by Sylvia Powell in our music player.  Sylvia is an amazing vocalist and deserves your love.  Word on the street is that she might be working with Rui Da Silva to come up with a dance version of the song – To us that is completely orgasmic.  Check out some more of Sylvia’s beautifully written songs over here and please leave her a comment.  She has written, produced and is working on a release of her album ‘The Script’ all on her own (ala Darren Hayes / Robyn) so again, give her as much support as possible.
  8. More word on the street – Antigone is in the final stages of mixing and mastering her album as well.  We’ve had a preview and there are some tracks on there that are stunners.  Expect to see more Antigone coverage on EQ closer to the album release – the wait is worth it!
  9. Like Paolo Nutini?  Then you are in for a treat…say hello to James Murray.  I had the pleasure of meeting James a few weeks back when Darren Hayes introduced me to him.  His music really isn’t very EQ at all, but there is a striking musical resemblance to Paolo Nutini that is kinda cool.  He’s a nice guy too and we hope his music breaks wide open.  Check him out here.
  10. And finally I leave you with Aly & AJ – I love it that all the blogs and even more people have caught onto them.  If it wasn’t for our friend Samuel raving on about them, we would have never listened to them in the first place.  However, having a glimpse into their home on MTV Cribs kinda ruined it for me as they obviously have so much money they don’t know what to do with it now.  I wish I wouldn’t have seen this…it’s too much pimpage for me to handle…or maybe I am just jealous that I don’t have the view from my balcony that they do…
