While out covering SXSW for us this year, Raj made getting into a Summer Heart show a priority on his festival schedule. For a number of years, the Swedish electro-popper has had a way of feeding his beats with a wistful dreaminess. Evoking idyllic soundscapes made of blissful melodies, by way of a simmering, synth style. Although the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is predominantly settled in with lo-fi sounds and musical mellowness. Allowing us to indulge in laid-back listening. It doesn’t mean that the Swedish musician is stuck in his ways. He continually explores new ground in the genre, creating new layered waves-upon-waves of enveloping sounds. Throughout the year, Summer Heart has been releasing tracks as part of his #12SongsOfSummer, project. He has released a track every month with the last for 2018 being, latest cut “Touch.”
It’s fair to say he’s left one of his dreamily best efforts to last. “Touch” is laced with smooth yet haunting tones. The lush electronic strokes will take you on a musical journey that will have you, sincerely captivated. It is summer soaked and relaxing. And will have you flying out of the door to pay a visit to the travel agent quick smart, so as to scoop up an armful of holiday brochure’s, with the upcoming longer days ahead, stuck firmly in mind.
Yep, we all know, come Boxing Day they’ll be TV commercials advertising far-flung destinations encouraging us to book our 2019 summer vacations early, (with the added bonus of tempting discounts.) However, if we’ve been overindulging ourselves silly with turkey dinners or gorging on platefuls of nut-roast while washing it down with bottles of festive cheer, it will probably be the last the thought on our minds. To be honest, if we are that near to falling into a food coma, all our heads are going to cope with is the dulcet melody making of Summer Heart anyways. I think the music is all we really need to drift off in our armchairs, daydreaming about our holidays.
