NZCA Lines

How many songs out there have been given the title “Two Hearts” I wonder? A fair considerable few I can instantly think of, Kylie and Phil Collins (as artistes in the singular not as a duet) being at the tip of this song title iceberg.

Now added to this number is NZCA Lines, the electronic pop project of Michael Lovett with Charlotte Hatherley (Also Known as Sylver Tongue, but mostly as guitarist with Bat For Lashes & Ash) and Sarah Jones (Hot Chip Drummer).

NZCA Lines seems to have a particular affinity of interest will all things sci-fi, which we first learned of some time ago on the release of splendid track “New Atmosphere”. Maybe this was the point of realisation that the project’s sophomore album would lend itself immersefully into the depth of concept and provide a linear ideology that was ripe to explore.

The next NZCA Lines album “Infinite Summer” is due in February of next year and the word we have on it from our handy press release quotes Michael Lovett as revealing of it that;- “The album is based around the idea of a far-future Earth, where the sun has expanded to the size of a red giant and our extinction is imminent. Half of the world is covered by a city [Cairo-Athens] that clings to the past and embraces its destruction, whilst the other half is trying to rebuild, create and make something new. Yet, it’s good on both sides because it’s warm everywhere and people just party most of the time.

Well isn’t that just fascinating food for thought! and also gives some real establishment of identity to the just released futuristic synth-pop gem “Two Hearts”.
