It probably will not have escaped your notice. There was a high-profile remix album released this week, in the way of, “Club Future Nostalgia” (DJ Mix) from Dua Lipa. But as always there are lots of other remix bundles which have had an airing in recent days as well. Although I don’t tend to check out mixes an awful lot. I was somewhat, interested at looking into the mix treatments, Neon Trees track “New Best Friend” had received, when the press release landed in my inbox.
The recently released track features on the alternative quartet’s fourth album “I Can Feel You Forgetting Me.” The guitar, strewn and liberally synth woven work derived of, the band’s signature sound gives the release a danceable edge. Some tracks better than others would allow the band to take the dance-pop flavours further. Feeling the already synthy soulful vibes of “New Best Friend” could withstand such production tweaks, it’s been given three new arrangements.
The track rounds out “I Can Feel You Forgetting Me” is the culmination of, the introspective themes of isolation, personal relationships, self-discovery, and fulfilment, which run throughout the album. Leaving listeners on a hopeful note. Of the three treatments from DVRKO, Mute Choir and Danny Verde, it is the bouncy, future beat offering by production newcomer DVKRO which has grabbed my attention. I feel the enigmatic producer squeezed the best out of the track, by turning it into a bonafide anthem. Also following serious interest around him, this mix is the most significant, appointment DVKRO has earned to date. Feelings about the newcomer’s production prowess have already piqued the interest of, major, music and production websites such as Billboard, DJ Times and EDM.com. Intriguingly these prominent publications are leading DVKRO’s promotion. While they claim to know nothing about his identity but, have all seemingly jumped on the bandwagon. As though, they know more about the mystery man than they are letting on.
Things could be about to go off for DVKRO. I am happy that it was via Neon Trees, we got introduced to probable next big mover and shaker on the EDM scene.
