AlunaGeorge

Oh seriously are we ready for new AlunaGeorge? I know I am!

Whilst, the duo have been nailing down to completing their upcoming sophomore album “I Remember”, Aluna Francis and George Reid have raised their heads a couple of times in collaborative efforts to bring us a morsel of their intoxicating neo-electronica in tiding us over until they are ready to lift the lid on the new material.

Before the new album which is rumoured to feature productions by Flume and ZHU drops this spring & in discussion with Annie Mac via the “Hottest Record In The World” slot, Aluna has revealed that there has been one track which has been waiting in the bag to come out for quite some time, a collaboration with Jamaican Dancehall artiste Popcaan.

The track “I’m In Control” acts as the duo’s new single and also consequently might add some weight to current speculation that George will be concentrating on a more behind-the-scenes role on the new project (further substantiated I presume by the solo press shots of a lone Aluna!)

Being in the limelight isn’t for everyone, but one thing is certain, George’s way with the beats still make his presence very much felt.

I’m In Control” sounds more in keeping of taking the batten off Disclosure’s old skool “Settle” sound with something of Years & Years thrown in for good measure. Therefore, consisting of the most wonderfully woozy beats! Added to this, Aluna’s honeyed vox interspersed with bursts of Popcaan’s ragga style skank and here we are served up with another mesmerizing treat bordering on trip-hop tendencies.

As much as I’ll NEVER be a fan of OMI’s “Cheerleader”, AlunaGeorge have the know-how to incorporate the dancehall trend work into the fabric of their R’n’B contemporary electronica and work it to their advantage.

This track is LIT!
