As you may care to remember in this years Eurovision Song Contest, Israeli representative Nadav Guedj raised quite a profile of interest with his upbeat, roof raising euro-pop entry “Golden Boy”. It sure did bring a smile to our faces here on EQ and with that being said it’s quite interesting to see what becomes of the entrants after the post Eurovision fallout.
For most there was the brief moment of being under the spotlight of recognition outside their territories. Whilst, for a select few, the added bonus of chart-placings europe-wide would have been welcomed. Once the giddiness of Eurovision euphoria dies down most of these acts will quickly fade from the memory but you know we at EQ are always up for finding a hot euro act out of the entries to keep an eye upon.
Nadav Guedj brought on a certain amount of fun factor to the Eurovision proceedings with “Golden Boy” and actually in the final days leading up to the finale found himself placed as an unexpected favourite.
As much as we remember Nadav on Eurovision night for his nifty golden pumps, it was more importantly that the 16 year old brought a vibrant pop performance which reinforced our opinions of Israeli music acts increasingly coming to light as being really rather good.
Anyways to this end Nadav has rolled out a new single called “Good Vibes” which is of a similar sunny disposition to its Eurovision predecessor, and although, perhaps a touch more on the funky urban side of pop in places it assists in showcasing Nadav’s dexterously strong vocals and sky high falsetto range to a greater extent.
If this top form level of pop-centricity continues, we might even think it right to begin filing Nadav under the same scale of esteem as Eric Saade, Sergey Lazarev and Darin Zanyar.
For the time being though, we will make it our mission to keep a keen eye on the progression of Nadav Guedj. Additionally, as we don’t hear of so many European pop acts coming on through as we used to.
When all is said and done. Good pop is good pop wherever it originates from!
