There are not so many fantastical figures in pop today as Estonia’s queen of EDM dance bangers Kerli. STAT. And for those who have tried to replicate Kerli’s striking moonchild persona, well they can’t carry it off anywhere near as gracefully as queen moonchild herself.

We have loved on her neonised club tracks that sent us to disco heaven, yet the artist within her has felt a change in direction could revitalise more of her visionary aesthetic.

Hopefully the cosmic disco bops haven’t all been put to bed, because that would be a nah but in her keenesss to share the new material she has been working on as a newly independent artist, whilst, on retreat in the forests of her native Estonia. Kerli reveals “Feral Hearts” an ethereally transcending interlude of sweeping electronic movement, rich emotive grandeur.

In her time away from the limelight Kerli is no longer hiding behind the rumbling beats of EDM, we now connect with an artist who is open to expressing more vulnerability and even more of her artistic expression than ever before.

It’s a soundscape which is a whole lot more icily poignant and atmospheric, drawing in a somewhat comparative style to Imogen Heap, I feel.

Like Heap, I’d be certain to place a bet on Kerli going to town on the visual package in a spectacular fashion. My peepers will definitely be on the look-out and scouring the web for it when it drops
