And just like that, the sun has suddenly appeared and summer is well and truly on! Fortuitously, much to my delight, this sizzling solar event coincided with my going away on holiday. So you can be sure that I made the absolute most of enjoying life outdoors those past ten days. But of course, what makes me appreciate the arrival of good weather all the more, is having summery feels types of music to listen to. Therefore it is especially cool that the rising Atlanta alt-pop duo Coco & Clair Clair has dropped a new single “Aggy.” And that the track comes by way of announcing their new album “Girl” due August 30th.

You need to know these girlies, pride themselves on their distinctiveness and happily reside in their own sonically, lush music lane. And although their music is difficult to pigeonhole it is exactly this that is among the duo’s most endearing qualities. While listening to their musical offerings, it is crucial to note, the inescapable draw of their dreamy, spoken rap-style vocals. What is more, the need to pay attention to the lyrics which noticeably, exude equal elements of playfulness and exhibit vulnerability.
In “Aggy,” the latest release sees the duo contemplating a good night out.
“We’re singing about leaving our cares behind and having a good night. No worries and no drama, just some good old-fashioned loving with your friends, your crush, your partner, whoever. What happened to having fun??”
Isn’t a sense of fun exactly what we want from our music right now? The way Coco & Clair Clair pursue joy is a delight to the ears with their soothing voices. As they worked on tracks for their album, they travelled between Amsterdam and Joshua Tree to collaborate with Raven Artson on production. Their laid-back approach, from cooking together, making drinks around 4 or 5 pm. And furthermore, creating music after a day of sunshine and driving around town, truly shines through in the production and vibe of “Aggy.”
I truly believe that Coco & Clair Clair have their priorities aligned. Furthermore, those who join them on the “Girl” album journey will undoubtedly recognize with instinctive awareness that the duo have truly mastered embracing their vulnerability. And that similarly the new music aptly reflects this.
