CAPPA has finally done it. She has put out a song which has turned my head and ultimately flooded me with interest. In contrast to her previous tracks that have fallen short of grabbing my attention “Sux” has been on repeat. It isn’t that CAPPA is short of fans anyways. Her songs have been synced in ads for Victoria’s Secret, Bumble, Under Armor, Journeys and can be heard on in-store playlists for Urban Outfitters, H&M and Forever 21. It is just that, stylistically I find the sugary brand of electronic-pop as being somewhat, cookie-cutter formulated for my taste.

We know the ‘holidays are coming’ as the bassline pops like a tall, cool glass of soda which is otherwise known as, the ‘real thing’ on this track. Having these beats bubbling down my headphones was the refreshment my ears needed to perk them up today. I really do like that the lyrics are penned and performed in a playful, manner. They come straight to the point and are as sharp as a tack. What a relief to find the rest of the melody falls in line as being equally vibrant, punchy and highly engaging. As I don’t really do the whole emosh heartbreak-pop song thing, “Sux” is ticking all the right boxes for me.

What’s not to love about, infectiously good. Highly, literate indie-pop music, shot through with, an incredible honesty. Free of filler and full of fun. It evokes a youthful immediacy whereby everyone can no doubt find something in it to appreciate. It’s a little early in the week to call out my favourite new track. I do know it’s going to be a tough feat over these next seven-days to match-up to the immense pleasure that “Sux” has brought to my ears.
