It’s Freestyle Friday! The last day of the week where we pay homeage to the legends of freestyle dance/pop music – a genre we feel is high time for it’s rightful comeback.
One of my favourite girl groups of all time is the Latina girl group aptly called Sweet Sensation. The girl trio had their fair share of lineup changes just like the Sugababes, but in the end, they managed to release two mega cool albums full of pop dance floor rompers and even had a crossover US Billboard Number One hit with “If Wishes Came True” that surprised everyone and went viral before the term viral was invented!
Their spunky latin freestyle beats, cute sassy outfits and dance moves were the talk of the town at the time and those girls knew how to ROCK some big hair, most definitely. To this day, I still play their seminal freestyle classic “Hooked On You” in my DJ sets as it sounds just as fresh today as it did back then. I think you’ll be hard-pressed not to agree with me here.
