#1: "9:00 to 17:00, 17:00 To Whenever" by The Young Professionals

And here we are!

From #20 to #1 in our countdown of the best albums and EPs of 2011 on EQ Music Blog

By far, "9:00 to 17:00, 17:00 to Whenever" by The Young Professionals is our TOP of album picks this year.  It was quietly released online to very little fanfare (except here of course) but once it landed on the iPod, it found itself being played almost every single day for me.  This was the album I always wanted front-man Ivri Lider to make and boy oh boy, it was executed with style, fashion and a quirkiness that can't be replicated.

I got the chance to meet up with Ivri Lider a few times this year and I distinctly remember him quietly mentioning "Oh yeah, I'm working with this band called The Young Professionals and I really think you'll dig it".  DIG IT?  I more than digged it, when it was released, I couldn't stop playing it.  It became the object of my obsession and although the soft release didn't garner that much attention, the major labels were watching, all making offers left right and center to make The Young Professionals the next big thing in pop.  Expect huge things for The Young Professionals next year, they got signed to a massive deal on a major which is quite a feat considering the current economic state of the music industry.

If you haven't been paying attention, make sure you catch up with The Young Professionals here and here.  I think you'll agree they are the most amazing pop band you'll discover this year.  And if not this year, we KNOW for a fact that you'll be seeing more of them in 2012.

Ivri Lider and Yonatan Goldstein – you have created something very magical, uber cool, cutting-edge, geeky chic, gaytastic, quirky fab and out-of-the-cosmos with "9:00 to 17:00, 17:00 to Whenever" and that is why your album tops our list of Top 20 albums this year.  I wish I could be half as cool as you guys are.
