Lily Wolf

Believe it or not I’ve wanted to get involved with the off-centre served electro-pop of Lilly Wolf for sometime now, after stumbling onto their soundcloud account quite by chance some considerable amount of time ago. Quite why I haven’t actually gotten around to writing about the duo up- to-now evades me really!

Lilly Wolf are the collaborative music partnership of front-woman / vocalist Lilly Wolfson and enigmatic producer Alex Neuhausen also known as Dr. Nu.

These electro-pop mavericks put their best innovatively thinking heads forward to continually evolve upon their quirky offerings, developing their alternative artistry with an assertive attack of creativity lead through the medium of electronic technology. As such, Lilly Wolf’s visionary insight is situated betwixt much of the left-of-field divide of dark themed sub-pop with an accent impressed upon the dramatic at times.

The music itself is no way gloomy though, I choose to think in parts it exudes a certain otherworldly haunting charm of back in the day when acts like RebekkaMaria, Bat for Lashes and Chew Lips were representative of striving forward cutting alternative soundscapes in electronica with an added dash of dark disco-pop glamour.

Lilly Wolf’s most current track of note “Violence”, concentrates upon themes formed of a hard-hitting reality check depicting an unravelling troubled mind whilst, consumed with destructive thoughts. Beyond its somewhat disturbing lyrical exterior the track is stately but notably upbeat in overall musical character. A key signature trait that lends itself to the back bone of of Lilly Wolf’s work to date.

So if spine-tingling lyricism matched with spellbinding electronica is the stuff which brings on an adrenaline rush of neo-goth surging excitement bursting out of your veins, then I’d care to direct you check out Lilly Wolf’s other tracks “Nerves” and “Burn With You”, in particular.

Lilly Wolf are totally invigorating in their artistic aesthetic to my mind. And it’s heartening to see acts of this ilk slowly rising on up from the underground scene once more. Infact, it’s nothing short of eargasmic if honest.
